Key Pillars
Education and Citizen Science are key pillars of the OCEAN CITIZEN project. Through hands-on learning experiences and participatory science, we aim to bring marine restoration closer to people of all ages and backgrounds.
MOOC on Citizen Science
Discover how science and society can work together to restore our ocean. This MOOC offers a space to learn about marine ecosystems and explore how citizens and researchers can work side by side in marine forest regeneration.
The course will guide you through the essentials of ocean literacy, introduce you to marine forests and the principles of their restoration, and show how citizen science can empower everyone to contribute to marine conservation. Along the way, you will discover practical tools, inspiring stories from pilot sites, and opportunities to engage directly in protecting our ocean.
Materials & activities
We work closely with schools, educators, and local communities to develop and test educational activities that explore marine biodiversity, ecosystem restoration, and ecological succession. These actions are closely linked to citizen science initiatives, allowing learners to actively contribute to real scientific knowledge while developing ocean literacy and critical thinking skills. More materials and activities are coming! Stay connected and get involved!
This space brings together educational resources, monitoring and reporting of the submerged discs from the BiodivOcean project, and practical tools created within the project, especially those designed for use in schools and educational contexts. Our goal is to make these resources openly available to anyone interested in marine restoration, from teachers and students to ocean enthusiasts and professionals.
