The biotic and abiotic parameters that are linked to the species have to be deeply studied and all the knowledge gathered have to be considered in order to improve the success of the restoration. Here, we studied the main abiotic factors of the natural environment, the demographic parameters and the capacity to resist to thermal stress in red Canary gorgonian Leptogorgia ruberrima in order to gather the maximum knowledge to suggest different approaches to restore this species. Therefore, in this study, we contributed to develop preliminary steps that have to be considered and studied before restoring this species with the aim of having a successful restoration.

Contribution: Build guidelines to develop gorgonian restoration, gather all the knowledge available in order to consider the main factors that can be determinant for a successful restoration.
