eMergy accounting

eMergy accounting
eMergy is a measure of the energy consumed in direct and indirect transformations to make a product or a service (Odum, 1996). eMergy accounting is based on the valuation of all the energy used in the processes that generate a product or a service expressed in units of one type of energy (usually solar energy equivalents). eMergy accounting represents a donor side valuation of the cost spent by nature to generate a product or a service; the higher the cost of generation, the higher the value of the resource.
