The Zoology unity team of the DiSTEBa (Università del Salento) works in marine natural resources, taxonomy and biological oceanography.
The primary focus of their work is on global change indicators of stress in coastal benthic populations, marine invertebrate distribution, ecology and physiology, and marine wildlife conservation and restoration. In the DiSTEBa the related staff is currently made up of over 120 structured personnel (teachers and technical-administrative staff) and over 50 researchers with various types of contracts, working, among other things, on Environmental evaluation and conservation. The currently 35 active Research Laboratories have taken part in prestigious international programmes.
DiSTeBA is part of some national consortia, of European thematic consortia, of National Competence Centers, and of Networks of Public Research Laboratories, of 1 European network of excellence. The Zoological unity also leads a COST action, the MAF WORLD.
