The ProCleanLakes project aims to develop a pan-European Action Plan for the remediation and protection of European Natural Lakes (ENL) by engaging diverse stakeholders and integrating:
Nature-based solutions (NbS) to improve ecological and chemical status, including biodiversity.
Digital 4.0 solutions for ecosystem monitoring, restoration, and knowledge transfer.
Circular economy models to drive sustainable business and the transition from a Blue to Green Economy.
Citizen and stakeholder engagement to raise awareness, build capacity, and co-develop solutions for ENL restoration and protection.
With a total funding of €300,000, 3 to 5 regions will be supported with €60,000 – €100,000 to demonstrate the feasibility, replicability, and scalability of these solutions. Selected regions will receive scientific and technical advisory support, including training and field workshops, fostering knowledge exchange between demonstration and replication sites.
Associated regions will collaborate with ProCleanLakes partners to adapt project outcomes into a Restoration and Protection Roadmap, which will contribute to the broader pan-European Action Plan for safeguarding natural lakes.
