European Oceans Pact – Call for evidence

European Oceans Pact – Call for evidence

Deadline: 17th of February 2025
Format: On-line
Hosted by: European Commission

The European Commission has launched a call for evidence to help shape the European Oceans Pact, a political initiative aimed at promoting sustainable ocean management while ensuring the health, resilience, and productivity of oceans—key to the prosperity of EU coastal communities. Announced by President von der Leyen in her 2024-2029 political guidelines, the pact will take a holistic approach to ocean governance across all sectors and policies.

The call for evidence is open, inviting input from stakeholders, experts, and citizens. The feedback will contribute to the final European Oceans Pact, set to be presented at the 3rd UN Ocean Conference in June 2025.

The pact’s key objectives include:

  • Ensuring a healthy, resilient, and productive ocean.
  • Supporting a sustainable and competitive blue economy, including fisheries and aquaculture.
  • Advancing marine knowledge, research, innovation, and investment.

Deadline for feedback: February 17th, 2025
